An independent guide for Zoo Leipzig
Coming soon to Google PlayFind an animal, choose your route, follow the daily program and discover what is nearby. Zoo Leipzig Navigation brings a detailed map, animal knowledge and useful visit tools together in seven languages.
Zoo Leipzig Navigation is an independent, unofficial app by Tomasz Bujlow Consulting. It is not operated, sponsored or endorsed by Zoo Leipzig GmbH. Event times and path availability may change; follow information and instructions on site.
A visit your way
One guide can serve different plans, from a short family visit to a day focused on animals and conservation.
Find playgrounds, baby changing facilities and restaurants. Choose a stroller route that avoids stairs marked in the map data, and plan around the daily program.
Search common and scientific names, browse animal groups and subgroups, inspect conservation status and explore 45 catalog entries marked as rarely kept in European zoos.
Locate eight accessible restroom locations, eight elevator locations and other practical facilities. The stroller route is not a certified wheelchair-accessible route; check signs and on-site conditions.
See your GPS position on the map, search by name or proximity and navigate to a selected place. The interface is available in seven languages.
Inside the app
Pan and zoom around buildings, paths and water, select points of interest and choose which categories to show. Start a walking route or the stroller profile, then follow on-screen directions and the remaining distance. GPS helps you return to your position; mapped stairs are avoided by the stroller profile.

The catalog contains 469 entries with scientific names, ranges, diets, classification and conservation status. Search and filter by group, subgroup or status, then see all matching locations on the map. Where available, animal pages add breeding information and other details. A separate view highlights 45 entries marked as present in no more than five European zoos.

Browse feeding sessions and other scheduled events with times and locations. Show their places on the map and opt in to reminders during your visit. Separate push preferences cover general messages and notices for people on site; messages can point to a link or map location.

Search for nearby restaurants, restrooms, playgrounds, baby changing facilities, elevators, first aid and more. Sort results by distance and show multiple matches at once on the map. Each place is a location to find, not a claim about how many individual facilities it contains.

A closer look
The current dataset has 837 mapped locations in 27 categories. Its 575 animal locations are map points; the 469 animal catalog entries are a separate count and should not be read as 469 distinct species.
Browse mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrates. Filters include animal subgroups and conservation codes such as CR, EN and VU. Catalog entries may represent species, subspecies or managed forms; a separate NA code is used for the latter.
Counts describe locations in the app dataset, not a live count of animals, facilities or available services at the zoo. Zoo operations and routes can change.

Zoo Leipzig Navigation
Once valid access is activated, the map, animal information, search and route calculation work offline. Internet is needed to activate, purchase or restore access and to receive push notifications.
The download will be free. Eligible devices can try the app once for 15 minutes. Continued use requires a valid voucher or prepaid access for one day or one year through Google Play, with no automatic renewal. The app will show available options and prices before purchase. App access does not include admission to Zoo Leipzig.
Event reminders are optional. With your permission, precise location helps determine whether you are still visiting, including while the app is minimized or the screen is locked. A persistent visit notification lets you end this tracking at any time. Location use can increase battery consumption.
